Young people not in education, employment or training

Not being in education, employment or training (NEET) can have long-term detrimental effects on a young person's employment prospects and well-being.
New data show that in 2022-23, 4.3% of young people in Herefordshire were either NEET or their status was unknown; unchanged from the previous year. This rate was lower than in both the West Midlands region and England (both 5.2%) and had fallen from a peak of 9.2% in 2019-20. However, it remains the case that young people living in the most deprived areas of the county are much more likely to be NEET than those in the least deprived areas.
