New content - the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic

Tuesday 23 March 2021 2pm

In the spring of last year the coronavirus pandemic caused the largest contraction in the UK economy for over three hundred years, with thousands of jobs and businesses forced to rely on an unprecedented package of government support in order to survive.  The impact of the pandemic has, to some extent, been felt by everyone and every business in Herefordshire.  Nationally, existing socio-economic inequalities have widened, with already more vulnerable groups and those in low paid work worst affected by the closure of parts of the economy during the three national lockdowns.

Reflecting the importance of these developments, we have created a new Economic impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) page, from where you can view and download our monthly summary of the economic impacts of the virus in Herefordshire.
